A PAIR OF ORMOLU-MOUNTED SEVRES BLUE AND GREEN GROUND POT-POURRI VASES AND COVERS
The porcelain mid-18th century, the ormolu and decoration of later date
Each a Sèvres sugar-bowl and cover of the first size (sucrier 'Calabre' et couvercle, 1ere grandeur) ormolu-mounted as a pot-pourri vase and cover, the cover and vase alternately painted with birds in landscape vignettes and with loose bouquets reserved on the caillouté gilt blue ground further reserved with shaped green-ground panels edged in gilt, the bowl set into a cap of stiff leaves and raised on a fluted socle and canted square base, a pierced ormolu gallery separating cover from bowl, the sides applied with upright bracket handles with pendant garlands
