The leaf-wrapped broken arch pediment flanking a cartouche above a leaf-carved frieze, the later rectangular bevelled plate within a geometric strapwork and foliate-decorated surround with a pounced ground, the base with scrolled ears and a boldly carved shell and foliate decorated apron, inscribed in red chalk to the reverse 4517, the vertical slips adjacent to the plate probably replaced, the oval rosettes flanking the shell posibly later and covering candlearm fitments, the cartouche probably original and later supported, regilt
