The later urn finial with a broken arch pediment and verre eglomisé panels above an ornately engraved and cut silvered gauge panel behing a chequer-strung door flanked by quarter column angles on a projecting base with a further verre eglomisé panel with later pendant finials, inscribed BAROMETER/THERMOMETER/en/CONTROLEUR/Ant.Peia/fec:Amsterd

Lot Essay

A virtually identical barometer, but lacking the eglomisé plate was sold by Christie's Amsterdam, 25 September 2002, lot 471.
