The pagoda-form cresting hung with bells to the corners and between urn shaped finials, the astragal glazed door and angels each centered by a patera and enclosing two shelves, the base fitted with three drawers, the interior lined in a pink silk, the right drawer with a pencil inscription to the underside Pierce?, the gilding refreshed

Lot Essay

This hanging cabinet is similar in form to an example formerly at Raynham Hall, Norfolk which is decorated with black and gold japanning and illustrated in R. Edwards, The Shorter Dictionary of English Furniture, London, 1977, p.104, fig.37.
