A PAIR OF CARVED MARBLE BUSTS OF A BROTHER AND SISTER
English, circa 1763
The boy depicted with his head turned slightly to dexter, wearing an open-neck shirt, on a spreading rectangular inlaid marble socle carved with a stack of books on the top, the front inscribed 'E.C.L. SEXENN 1763' and with a coat of arms carved in relief; the girl depicted with her head turned to sinister, drapery around her shoulders held with a clasp, her hair dressed with strings of pearls and flowers, on a spreading rectangular inlaid socle inscribed on the front 'A.C.L. AN.IV'.
