signed on the draw-tube DOLLOND LONDON, in a fishskin-covered case, the objective lens -- 4.1cm. (1 5/8in.) diameter; the case -- 8.2cm. (3¼in.) high

The objective lens is held in place by a threaded and stained ivory mount. The pasteboard body-tube is bound with green shagreen with a pecked silver band at either end. The draw-tube is bound with silver-tooled Morocco leather. The lignum vitae ring within is inscribed in pencil 12. The eyepiece lens is held in place by a threaded and stained ivory mount. The wooden case is secured by a sprung brass catch and is lined with red velvet and bound in black fishskin. The inside of the lid bears an inscribed 2 in ink, with a second illegible character.
