A well engineered exhibition standard 1-inch scale model of a 19th-Century centre pillar beam engine,
built by S.A.Massey with cylinder 1¼in. bore x 2½in. stroke, inward-facing centrally-mounted valve chest with separate steamways, cylinder head lubricator, studded stuffing boxes, parallel motion with barrelled links and gibbed and cottered bearings, cast beam, rod driven feed pump, barrelled fluted connecting rod, webbed crank, barrelled eccentric rod, gear-driven Watt-type governor, linkage and valve, gear-driven countershaft with belt pulley, spoked flywheel, pipework with flanged joints and other details, finished in brown, green and polished brightwork, mounted on a simulated stone plinth with brass plate engraved 19th-Century Beam Engine in 1in. scale from the design by G.
