Lot Essay

Tatiana Riabouchinska (1917-2000) was educated at the Fenelon School in Paris where her ballet training started with Alexander Volinin and Mathilda Kschessinka. Riabouchinska made her debut in Paris with the Chauve-Souris revue and in 1932 at the request of George Balanchine, she joined Les Ballets Russes de Monte Carlo.
Riabouchinska remained with the Ballets Russes until 1942 and performed with the Ballet Theatre, the Original Ballets Russes, Ballets des Champs-Elysées, Teatro Colon and the London Festival Ballet.
