marked Sazikov with Imperial warrant, St. Petersburg, 1862
Comprising a teapot, a sugar bowl and cover, a candy bowl, a milk jug, a basket, a cake dish and a tray, all on spreaded foot, the lower rim engraved with geometric motifs, the upper rim of each piece engraved in Cyrillic with the name of the piece and the Cyrillic inscription 'made by the Imperial firm Sazikov', the basket with the date '1862', the bodies with cartouches each with a rosette containing a cabochon ruby in the center, with curved handles, the beaded scallop-rimmed tray with engraved geometric design in the center, marked under the bases and on covers

Lot Essay

The Sazikov firm was founded in Moscow in 1793 by Pavel Fedorovitch Sazikov and in 1842, a branch was opened in St. Petersburg. From 1846 onwards, the firm was one of the main suppliers to the Imperial Court. The firm became known for the high quality of its silver productions above all, sculptures and tableware, which were exhibited at the World Exhibition in London in 1851.
