A NORTH ITALIAN COMPOSITE HALF-ARMOUR
Late 16th Century
Etched throughout in the so-called 'Pisan' manner, comprising close-helmet with one-piece skull rising to a roped comb, the visor, bevor, and chin-piece all pivoting at the same point, and two gorget-plates to front and rear (much repaired throughout, some plates later), gorget of three plates front and back, the front plates with later applied bands, breast-plate with medial ridge embossed with two volutes at the top, and turned and roped at the neck and movable gussets, and fitted with single narrow waist-plate, back-plate en suite (etching worn), and incomplete shoulder- and arm-defences (partly replaced): on wooden stand
