A TROOPER'S HELMET OF SAXON CAVALRY 1867 MODEL
Circa 1880
Skull of heavy black leather with brass edging, black patent leather crest (which bears a black chenille), brass star helmet-plate mounted with crowned Saxon shield in white metal, brass chinscales (some plates missing) with screw fastening on right (with Saxon cockade) and plain-rivet on left, the back peak stamped (?) RRM 1875 and interior bearing remains of the soldier's personal label (?) CLAUSS, ESCADRON SACH II REITER-REGIMENT
