TWO OFFICER'S VICTORIAN HELMET-PLATES OF BRITISH INFANTRY REGIMENTS, MOUNTED ON CIGARETTE-BOXES
The plates circa 1900, and the boxes mid-20th Century
A gilt metal crowned star plate mounted with the badge and title-scroll of the Prince of Wales's (North Staffordshire) Regiment, fixed to a box covered with black leather, stamped DUNHILL, LONDON on the underside; and a similar helmet-plate, with the devices of the Duke of Edinburgh's (Wiltshire) Regiment, (points of the star now cut to blunt angles), mounted on a leather simulated bookbinding containing a wooden cigarette-box (now loose)
The first helmet plate 5¼in. high; box 6 x 7½in.; the second helmet plate now 5in. high; box 9 x 4½in. (2)
