Of deeply repoussé silver-plated metal with roped edging, mounted with the Queen's bust in oval surround inscribed MARIA I D.G. PORT. ET ALG. REGINA, flanked by embossed devices (Portugese shield and globe etc.) with scroll below SEMPER HONOS, NOMEN QUE TUUM LAUDES QUE MANEBUNT with small suspension bar behind the two points

Queen Maria I reigned from 1777-1816. During the Peninsular War, Portugal was administered on her behalf by the Duke of Wellington's Diplomatic Staff.
