Fine reproduction, late 19th Century
Curved fullered blade, ornately etched and largely gilt for about one-third of its length, inscribed with the title GRENADIER A CHEVAL and GARDE DES CONSULS and with the initial M, the back edge inscribed MANUFACTURE DE KLINGENTHAL, COULAUX FRERES, gilt basket-hilt with four curling bars, bearing a large flaming grenade device, (the pommel lacking its cap), scabbard of leather-covered wood with ornate gilt mounts and long chape
