A Japanese ivory okimono of a fisherman
Late 19th Century
carved wearing tied robes with attached basket, holding a spear in his left hand and a large fish aloft in the right hand, standing with one foot resting on rockwork, on an oval base -- 7¼in. (18.4cm.) high; and another okimono of a farmer standing on rockwork below a further farmer, both holding baskets full of vegetables and wearing tied robes -- 13¼in. (33.6cm.) high, (small chip to handle on basket on second piece).
