A Japanese ivory okimono of a farmer
19th Century
carved wearing long flowing robes with incised roundels and a leafy skirt, holding a peach spray in his right hand and a twisted staff in his left, standing with one foot raised slightly on rockwork, an inset red lacquer signed tablet to the underside of the oval base -- 8in. (20.2cm.) high, (minor repair to staff).
