of tapering form, with moulded iron red pendants to the rim, painted and gilt with the arms of 'The New East India Company' above the Company motto 'Auspicio Regis Et Senatus Angliae' -- 6in. (15.2cms) high.
See Illustration.

The New East India Company was established in 1698 and united with an older East India Company in 1709. It is quite possible that this service commemorated the centenary. The service was used by the Company in India at Bombay and Madras and it is known that a number of Governors too parts of the service back to England at the end of their tenure of office. See 'Chiense Armorial Porcelain', D.S Howard, page 774.
