A pair of Chinese large sancai-glazed pottery models of earth spirits
Tang Dynasty
each winged beast seated on its haunches on a raised pierced base, one with a humanoid face with winglike ears and curling horns, the other with a fierce dragon face and flaming crest flanked by curling horns, glazed green, with amber and straw splashes -- 32¼in. (82.cms) high max, (broken and restored).
Thermoluminescense Test numbers 866g47 and 866g48 are consistent with the dating of this lot.
