A dated English delft shoe
1685
Modelled as a lady's fabric shoe with pointed toe, large bow at front, high curled tongue and high square heel, the front of the shoe inscribed SWH to one side and 1685 to the other, the toe and centre line of the shoe painted in blue and yellow with zig-zag lines probably intended to represent stitching, the sides and back of the shoe with blue and yellow lines and rosettes
