Dromadaire monté par un arabe (Arab riding a dromedary)

Dating from around 1874, and probably Barye's final figural group, Dromadaire monté par un arabe is modelled in the looser style characteristic of the aged sculptor's late work. Given its appearance only shortly before Barye's death, the lifetime edition of the model was small and épreuves are consequently rare. At the Atelier sale, the modèle was acquired by the fondeur Delafontaine and subsequently edited until around 1905.
