Lot Essay

The present group combines Barye's Épagneul No1, première version (see Poletti & Richarme, 2000, no. A18, p. 140) with his Lapin, oreilles couchées (see lot 94). The model was offered from 1845, and after 1876 editions were cast by Delafontaine until 1905. Examples of both lifetime and posthumous épreuves are rare.
