Milan emportant un lièvre was offered in Barye's 1874 catalogue, both as an individual model, and as the surmounting element in his Candelabres décorés de groupes d'animaux. Forming part of lot 718 in the Atelier sale, the modèle was acquired by Jacquemart and subsequently edited by Barbedienne.
