lithograph, 1947, on wove paper, Mourlot's only state, Mourlot calls for four proofs, 250 on Arches and the edition of 50 on Japon for the book Dans l'Atelier de Picasso, inscribed 'M 79' in pencil in the lower right margin and 'M' on the reverse, with margins, the paper tone slightly darkened, two stains in the lower margin, pale mat staining on the reverse, old glue remains at the reverse of the margin corners, otherwise in good condition, framed

Lot Essay

"From time to time Pablo took me with him to Mourlot's. It was then in the rue de Chabrol, near the Gare de l'Est. It was a dim, cluttered, ramshackle place, full of piles of posters, lithographic stones and general confusion."
