A RARE YELLOW-ENAMELLED MOULDED DISH
YONGZHENG SIX-CHARACTER MARK WITHIN A DOUBLE CIRCLE AND OF THE PERIOD (1723-1735)

Finely moulded with two tiers of overlapping petals radiating from a central medallion formed as a lotus seed pod, the exterior sides of conforming floral design rising to a foliate rim, covered overall with a rich opaque lemon-yellow enamel, the base with a transparent glaze

A pair of Yongzheng dishes of this striking form covered in yellow enamel is illustrated in The Baur Collection, vol. III, Geneva, 1969, nos. A484 and 485; another pair of this type is in the Illustrated Catalogue of the Tokyo National Museum, Chinese Ceramics, vol. II, Tokyo, 1990, no. 709; a single dish is illustrated by R. E. Scott, Percival David Foundation of Chinese Art, A Guide to the Collection, London, 1989, pl. 97 (together with a range of monochrome wares); one from the Chang Foundation, Taibei, is illustrated in Selected Chinese Ceramics from Han to Qing Dynasties, Taiwan, 1990, pl. 129; one from the Constantinidi Collection is in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, illustrated by S. Jenyns, Later Chinese Porcelain, London, 1971, pl.
