A RARE LATE MING BLUE AND WHITE 'IMMORTALS' BOWL
WANLI SIX-CHARACTER MARK WITHIN A DOUBLE CIRCLE AND OF THE PERIOD (1573-1619)
Painted in a rich purplish-blue around the exterior with the eight Daoist immortals with their attributes standing on cresting waves and divided by scroll-clouds emerging from the mouth rim, the interior of the bowl with a central dragon medallion surrounded by the characters Fu ru dong hai, shou bi nan shan, 'May your fortunes be as vast as the Eastern seas and may you live as long as the Southern mountains', and foliate scrolls bearing lingzhi
