Lot Essay

See P. Stahl, Höchster Porzellan, Frankfurt am Main, 1994, pp.96-97 for examples painted by Louis Victor Gerverot.

Before he came to Höchst, Gerverot worked in the Weesp porcelain factory (1769-1770) where he also painted comparable 'Indianische' bird decorations (see lot 156 in this sale).
See J.D. van Dam a.o., Rococo in Nederland, Amsterdam, 2001, pp.233-244 for a Weesp tureen, cover and stand painted by Gerverot with very similar decoration and colours.
