Lot Essay

See J.D. van Dam a.o., Rococo in Nederland, Amsterdam, 2001, p.233-234 for a Weesp tureen painted by L.V. Gerverot.

Gerverot, whom after his period at Weesp, worked at the Höchst porcelain factory, had the technique and the artistic skill to produce these bright colours and vivid scenes. He was therefore paramount to the Weesp factory, which was trying to keep up with the fashion prevailing at that time.
