Depicting a panoramical view of Haarlem with wayfarers and a young fisherman with his dog to the foreground, further with sailing boats on the Spaarne lake and river, further with meadows and suburbs, the distant background depicting the town within its fortified walls and the Saint Bavo church in the middle, underneath a floating banderole inscribed HAERLEM, the edge yellow (within a wooden frame)
