A Dutch Delft blue and white chinoiserie maritime plaque
Early 18th century
The canted rectangular terraced body decorated with a central elaborate scene depicting a large sloop filled with twelve fishermen on a wavy sea, further with distant vessels and another sloop surrounding whales within a foliate frame, the border with four chinoiserie elongated panels depicting an Oriental on a terrace alternating foliage, surmounted by a triangular crest topped by two herrings and pierced with an aperture
