Lot Essay

A similar Kazak rug was sold in these Rooms, Battilossi, Tappetti d'Antiquariato, 11 February 1998, lot 53. Attributed to Fachralo, that piece bears many similarities to this present example, notably in its shaded light green field accompanied by extremely similar gabled ivory medallion. The chequered keel arches at either end of this example, however, are motifs more often associated with rugs from Karatchopf.
