Sultanabad District, West Persia, circa 1880
The shaded charcoal-grey and indigo field with an overall design of palmettes and floral sprays linked by flowering tendrils, in a shaded brick-red rosette and flowering leafy vine border between light blue boteh, ivory floral meander, inner reciprocal Y-pattern and outer black and blue plain stripe, a kilim strip and braided warps at each end, slight wear with negligible tinting, scattered moth damage, a couple of old repairs
