拍品專文

This lot demonstrates clearly the links between carpets of East Anatolia and the Caucasus, already noted under lots 35, 36 and 110. The drawing and composition here is typically Caucasian, with its angular interpretation of a Persian original design, but the colouring and structure show Anatolia to be much more probable as the place of manufacture.

A contemporaneous West Anatolian interpretation of a very similar design is in the Dennis and Zinaida Dodds Collection (Dodds, Dennis R. and Eiland, Murray L. Jr. (eds.): Oriental Rugs from Atlantic Collections, Philadelphia, 1996, no.30, p.30).
