This most unusual carpet has a design and colouring which would normally be thought to be typical of Kirman or possibly Khorassan. The weave, with warps that are not so depressed, a wavy weft and relatively coarse knotting, is not typical of Kirman at all. The inclusion of details in a purple silk which has corroded or worn down well below the rest of the pile is another very rare feature.
