An Italian white painted and gilt-varnished silvered (mecca) canape
Piemonte, last quarter 18th Century
Upholstered a chassis with five padded panels and squab cushion covered in deep-pink silk with floral oval medallions, the arched inscrolling back with downswept arms terminating in acanthus scrolls, the reeded ribbon-tied central oval surmounted by a musical trophy, the seat-rail with recessed panels carved with foliate trails divided by paterae, on ring-turned spirally fluted legs, headed by acanthus and stiff leaves, on toupie feet, back seat-rail replaced, the two central back legs replaced
