In the Louis XV style, 19th Century
The glazed panelled frame channelled overall and cast with rocaille, scallop and rockwork clasps, suspended by pierced scrolling foliate arms, centred by a later ribbon-twist rod issuing four scrolling branches, stamped to the top of the frame, C.Mellier & Cie. fitted for electricity

Lot Essay

Mellier & Co took over the house of Monbro circa 1868. Monbro had started business in London in 1863 at 2 Frith Street, near Soho Square.
Mellier & Co of Margaret Street, London were known particularly for their fine reproductions of antique French furniture, and were amongst the English manufacturers who exhibited at the 1904 St Louis International Exibition.
