A NAPOLEONIC WAR FRENCH PRISONER-OF-WAR BOXWOOD MODEL OF A 120-GUN ROYAL NAVY FIRST RATE SHIP-OF-THE-LINE
Early 19th Century
With bound masts, yards with stun's'l booms and foot ropes, standing and running rigging, carved warrior-form figurehead, head-rails, boomkins, metal anchors with wooden stocks, catheads, belaying rails, capstan, deckrings, metal cannon in stepped carriages, well deck with long boat over, companionways, saloon lights and other details. The planked and pinned hull with finely-carved and glazed stern and quarter galleries and rudder, is mounted on a cradle stand secured to parquetry base on display board within wood-bound glazed cover, with label incorrectly identifying the ship as the HMS VILLE DE PARIS, overall restoration, replaced parts, hull stained, later base
