A PAIR OF GEORGE III SILVER WINE-COOLERS, COLLARS AND PLATED LINERS
Mark of Matthew Boulton, Birmingham, 1801
Each partly-fluted vase-shaped on a circular foot, with gadrooned borders, the two drop-ring handles with lion's mask terminals, the body engraved twice with a coat-of-arms, the detachable collar engraved twice with a crest and motto, with plain plated cylindrical liner, marked on foot-rim of coolers and collar bezels, the collars also numbered '1' and '2'
7¼ in. (18.5 cm.) high
73 oz. (2,299 gr.) without liners
The arms are those of Farquhar impaling another, probably Stevenson, for Sir Walter Farquhar, 1st Bt. (1738-1819) and his wife Anne, (d.1793) (2)
