A PAIR OF DUTCH FRUITWOOD AND MARQUETRY ENCOIGNURES
Late 18th Century
Each with crossbanded quadrant top with a gallery to the front above a pair of tambour-fronted slides in the form of gilt-embossed leather- bound books inscribed 'Dictionnaire Encyclopédie' in numerous volumes, enclosing a plain interior with pearled borders and baluster strips inlaid with guilloche panels, on tapering feet, the handles apparently original, with 19th century printed label of a Royal Ducal crown and 'PRIVATE PROPERTY' beneath a confronting C-monogram, the other branded M beneath a closed crown, stamped to the underside of both 'V.M PRINCESS OF WALES'
