Covered overall in contemporary 18th century gros point needlework of stylised lozenge and star-shaped rosettes on a golden and green ground, on fan-headed and acanthus-carved cabriole legs with scrolled ears and pad feet, formerly with inset castors, three ears partially replaced, with Norman Adams label

Frederick Poke was one of several distinguished collectors of English furniture advised by the furniture historian R. W. Symonds and his collection formed the basis of several articles by Symonds, published in The Connoisseur from 1939-1942 (C. Streeter & M. Barker, 'A Bibliography of Publications by Robert Wemyss Symonds', Furniture History, 1975, pp. 88-107).
Lot 110 in this sale was also in the Poke collection.
