A ROMAN CORNELIAN INTAGLIO OF HELIO-SERAPIS
2ND CENTURY A.D.
With profile bust of syncretistic Serapis wearing the horns of Jupiter-Ammon, sun-rays and modius, with serpent of Asclepius crawling up the trident of Neptune, rev. the twin Dioscuroi, Castor and Pollux standing by their horses, 1.5 x 1 cm.; 1.8 cm. across inner hoop; and a Roman cornelian intaglio with the conjoined masks of Silenus and a youth, 1.1 x 0.8 cm.; 1.8 cm. across inner hoop, both in later ring settings (2)
