AN ITALO-CORINTHIAN POTTERY ALABASTRON
CIRCA 600 B.C.
Decorated with the large figure of a bearded male sphinx, a swan with two heads on the reverse, rosettes in the field, rays around the base, neck and rim, details incised and in added purple, 7½ in. (19 cm.) high; an Italo-Corinthian alabastron similar, decoration worn, incised details show lion-headed bird and swan, 7¼ in. (18.5 cm.) high; and another alabastron, decorated with frieze of hounds, broad band of dots above with rays around the neck, 5¼ in. (13 cm.) high, both repaired, circa 600 B.C. (3)
