The rim of the patera with punched Greek inscription "AMAP", a moulded ridged band around the exterior, and attached cast handle-plate decorated in relief with the sea-monster Scylla, clutching an oar in her raised right hand, flanked by the foreparts of two emerging hounds, another two below, her scaley serpentine body behind
