Lot Essay

Cf. S. M. Goldstein, Pre-Roman and Early Roman Glass in the Corning Museum of Glass, Corning, 1979, p. 129, no. 267, for similar. It is suggested that the twisted trail around the edge probably imitates a thong used to carry the vessel.
