The circular body decorated on either side with a central yellow spot, the edge with an applied white and amber twist trail terminating in two lug handles on the shoulder, an applied yellow trail around the everted rim, repaired

Lot Essay

Cf. S. M. Goldstein, Pre-Roman and Early Roman Glass in the Corning Museum of Glass, Corning, 1979, p. 129, no. 267, for similar. It is suggested that the twisted trail around the edge probably imitates a thong used to carry the vessel.
