Lot Essay

During the eighteenth century shops opened in Amsterdam, such as that of Gerrit va der Kaade, where Chinese and Japanese porcelain was overdecorated. A similar piece to the above lot is illustrated in Ko-Imari porcelain from the Collection of Oliver Impey, Barry Davies Oriental Art Ltd., London, 1997, p. 224-225, no. 139.
