Lot Essay

This type of dish was made for export to South-East Asia in imitation of Zhejiang ware. This example most likely comes from Mitsunomata in Hasami or possibly Fudoyama kiln near Ureshino. Hasami and Ureshino are both about eight kilometres south-west of Arita and in the 17th century were in the same han, ruled by the lords Nabeshima.
