A FINE SELECTION 1997 CLARET
This is a vintage which is easy to describe: The wines are lush and fruity, and have been pleasant- often delicious- from the very beginning. While never seen as a Great Vintage, the best wines are ripe, harmonious and soft, for early drinking. They do not have high acid levels, or harsh tannins. A.H.
The wines offered below represent a trade disposal and have been held and matured in professional warehousing on the Continent, since En Primeur purchase. Each wine was recently assessed by Anthony Hanson prior to selection for shipment and his notes are indicated below.

As usual, Beychevelle splits tasters into opposing camps. Some bewail a lack of power, others applaud its soft perfumes and elegance. Firmly in Camp 2, I love its appealingly fragrant, smokey aromas and its supple, mouth-clinging fruit. Ready for drinking and delicious.A.H.
