"Toward the end of the fifties landscapes decline in number and by about 1962 conclude altogether. Rocks in the Bush is representative of the small group of late 'exteriors'. Spare, direct, conceived with great freedom and executed accordingly, this work makes a virtue of the ad hoc messiness of the Australian scrub.
