Judith Trimble wrote of this work "...Euridice was produced in maquettes of steel and copper, and in bronzed steel during 1964 before the final, full scale, black painted steel sculpture was realised in 1965... Euridice presents different compositions from all sides, appearing as a dense compaction of thick, flat, irregular steelplates, and, from some viewpoints, sometimes as enfolding curved plates around a tall, spatial core... (its) density in some views suggests an organic character formed by molten metal, rather than assemblage. By 1965 such expressive monumentality has become the dominant aspect of King's Abstract Expressionism." (J Trimble, op. cit, p. 59)
