Lot Essay

These arms were apparently adapted from those of King Frederick II of Prussia, possibly as a wedding present to the Princess Royal of Prussia, Fredericia Charlotte, at the time of her marriage to the Duke of York. See D.S. Howard, Chinese Armorial Porcelain, p. 640
