Peotry, Persian manuscript on paper, 163ff. with 23ll. of black Persian naskh within two columns, marginal notes written in shikasteh by 'Ali ibn 'Abd al-Rasul and dated AH 1322/1904-05 AD and AH 1328/1910-11 AD, opening folio with illuminated heading, opening and second folios with gold floral borders and text within gold clouds, brown morocco binding, red and gold paper doublures -- Folio 26.1 x 16.3cm.

Lot Essay

Many of the notes are signed by 'Ali ibn 'Abd al-Rasul who is recorded as an educated man, a poet, and a calligrapher who corrected and published a few divans of poets, He died in Tehran in 1943. The marginal notes written in shikasteh are by him and dated AH 1322/1904-05 AD and AH 1328/1910-11 AD.
There are added notes on Nasir khusraw, references to him with commentaries on his poems dated AH 1324/1906-07 AD and AH 1328/1910-11 AD.
